A Fresh Start for an Entertainer’s Home
This project began the moment the clients decided to purchase a home that was showing its age and needed a little love. They saw the potential, and together we transformed the main floor into a beautiful, functional and welcoming space designed for everyday living—and plenty of gatherings with family and friends.
Kitchen
The existing kitchen felt closed off from the rest of the main floor, with a small wall separating it from the living and dining areas. Removing this wall allowed us to open up the kitchen and create a much more connected space for cooking, entertaining and spending time together.
Every detail was thoughtfully considered, balancing function with beautiful design. The curved edges of the island soften the space, while open shelving makes use of an otherwise awkward corner and adds an opportunity to display favourite pieces. Beautiful pendant lighting completes the look and sets the tone for the casual elegance carried throughout the main floor.
Living Room
Rather than starting from scratch, we looked at how existing elements could be thoughtfully reimagined. An existing cabinet footprint was transformed into a stylish dry bar, providing convenient storage for drinks and snacks when entertaining.
The three-sided fireplace became a feature in its own right with a fresh, bold faux-black-marble tile. The existing fireplace insert was kept and simply updated to complement the new design.
Because entertaining was such an important part of how the clients envisioned using their home, we wanted the television wall to feel intentional rather than simply functional. A luxurious walnut slat wall creates a beautiful focal point while helping the TV blend seamlessly into the space.
A custom sofa and chairs, upholstered in the clients' carefully selected fabrics, add warmth, comfort and personality. Together, the furnishings, finishes and thoughtful details create a cohesive main floor that feels polished yet inviting—a beautiful backdrop for everyday life and an entertainer’s dream when friends and family arrive.
